Despite Matt Hasselbeck’s wishes to stay in Seattle for the upcoming season, it looks like the Seahawks could be on the hunt for a new quarterback. Before the NFL lockout, the Seattle Seahawks were in a unique position. Their main quarterback was officially a free agent and their backup quarterback only started in two regular season games. With this situation it is no surprise that the Seahawks seem to aggressively be going after a quarterback in this season’s draft.

Over the past week, team representatives for the Seattle Seahawks were seen talking to talk all the top quarterbacks that will be present at the NFL draft.  There are currently seven top picks for quarterbacks that the Seattle Seahawks can choose from.

In the 2011 draft the Seattle Seahawks will have their first pick as the 25th overall draft pick. The team has been officially quiet on whether or not that selection will be used on a quarterback or on other areas.

Industry experts believe that the Seattle Seahawks could go for a number of picks as their current team roster has many open spaces waiting to be filled. Seattle could go for a quarterback, or a number of positions that have opened up this season in both the offensive and defensive lines. However, with only one contracted quarterback it would be surprising if Seattle didn’t express interest in any of the quarterbacks that are available.

Last year, the Seattle Seahawks were plagued with a number of injuries that caused them to almost miss the playoffs. These injuries are still present and having major backup players they can rely upon would be great for the team.
